Siam Tulip on a Black Background

This is the third Siam Tulip painting I’ve done, finished just before the whole bunch of flowers I bought started to wilt. When I completed this piece, the last blossoms still had a few days of life left in them. Even after they dried, this flower held a quiet kind of beauty that made me hesitate to throw them away—I kept looking at them with a sense of lingering affection. It felt as though they hadn’t really faded, just shifted into another form.

This painting captures the flowers at their freshest, standing out vividly against a deep black backdrop—as if they’re both immersed in the silence and glowing from within. It matched my state of mind at the time, when I needed a quiet strength to move through a period of darkness. Perhaps it will also resonate with someone who appreciates simplicity, stillness, and quiet depth.
