On our return journey to Ho Chi Minh City, our first stop was Hội An. We’ve visited many times before, but this is the first time we’ve stayed long enough to truly enjoy this ancient city. We found a café at noon when we needed a cool, shaded spot to rest. They had a wonderful rooftop view, but it was too hot and bright to paint outside. So, I decided to paint the view from my seat instead. Interestingly, this café used to belong to an artist, and some of their paintings still hang on the walls.
It’s my first painting after the Lunar New Year. This is the busiest time of the year in Vietnam for every family. We reunite and enjoy time together. My husband and I have driven across many countries in Europe, Asia, and the US, but this is our first time doing a “Xuyên Việt” (crossing Vietnam). Along the way, I filmed plenty of breathtaking views and landscapes, but on the way to Hanoi, we didn’t stop long enough to rest.
I didn’t make any resolutions this New Year. If there were one, it would simply be to let everything unfold as it needs to and to find happiness in everything discovered along the journey.
Wishing all of my collectors and artist friends a wonderful year ahead!
