FLORA’S FINE ARTSArtist Statement
“A collector once asked me what inspired me to become an artist. I simply replied: I don’t need inspiration to be an artist; the act of painting itself is already so inspiring.” – Flora Do
As an artist, I am captivated by the quiet power of simplicity to reveal profound truths. My work reflects an ongoing exploration of the emotions and experiences that define our lives. I am especially drawn to the stillness between moments – the spaces where deep reflection occurs. Through my paintings, poetry, and writings, I aim to capture these fleeting moments of clarity and connection.
My paintings are grounded in modern impressionism, using soft, pastel tones to create a palette that radiates harmony. To me, color transcends its visual function – it serves as an emotional conduit, evoking feelings and stirring memories. Each piece is an invitation to pause, breathe, and experience the world through a lens of tranquility and introspection. I strive to create art that does not shout but instead whispers gently, inviting viewers into a serene, contemplative space.
Writing, particularly poetry, has always been a natural extension of my artistic expression. As with painting, my poetry is inspired by the same sources of quiet beauty and introspection. Rooted in Zen philosophy, my poetry focuses on the present moment, capturing life’s subtle nuances that often go unnoticed. Both my paintings and writings seek to articulate what cannot always be expressed in words alone, offering an emotional resonance that goes beyond the surface.
While my work is deeply personal, I hope it speaks to universal experiences – our hopes, fears, joys, and sorrows. I view my art as a conversation between myself and the viewer, a shared space for finding meaning and connection. Through my creative process, I seek to delve into the depths of human emotion and uncover the quiet beauty in everyday life.
Ultimately, my art is about the journey toward understanding and peace. It invites viewers to slow down, reflect, and find comfort in the simplicity of the present moment. My hope is that through my work, others will discover a sense of calm and a deeper connection to their own inner selves.
